PAN is the "grandfather" of coin clubs in the state of Pennsylvania. It is a non-profit educational group, whose primary focus is stated as "learning the art, history and world cultures through coinage, medals and paper money". PAN always features a Young Numismatists program to get families to participate and learn the ropes of collecting.
In addition to giving talks on Saturday and Sunday (May 10 & 11), Talisman & Coiner also had a large display and booth area. Attendees could visit us and learn about coining and engraving, and see just how different money looked around the time of the Civil War. It was our pleasure to have had a booth right next to the Harrisburg Coin Club. They have graciously invited us to their big show on the 27th and 28th of September, 2019.
During the course of the PAN show, Becky and Rick toured the Bourse Floor, where dealers sell their merchandise, and got to know several of the them. We shared stories and insight about unique coins, including the 1861-O Half Dollar, which was minted under the auspices of federal authorities, State of Louisiana officials and the Confederate States of America.
